It is essential that mezzanine floors are installed properly. As weak construction of a mezzanine floor can cause not just injury the worker but also end up causing a lot of damage to the goods stored there, especially if they are fragile in nature.
Safety measures
It is essential for mezzanine flooring to have safety equipment installed so that the storage area proves to be free from any sort of danger. There are many things that could be installed to make the mezzanine floors safe; one may be to install railing on the sides of stair cases and also on the edges of the mezzanine floor. There are also all sorts of edge protection systems that prevent anyone from getting injured. Safety gates at loading and unloading stations make it safe to operate fork lifts. It also protects the people below, by preventing any load from falling down.
Safe lift mechanisms
Lifts with locking systems can be installed in warehouses which deal with very heavy loads and are of two or more floors in height. The locking system is in place so that if by chance the cable of the lift gives way due to the weight of that particular cargo, the lift gets stuck on that particular floor, thereby protecting the person and the goods within. Signs and warnings also go a long way in warning workers to be cautious when at work.
